‘Acid Bandit’ Wears Ridiculous Fake Beard In Terrifying Bank Heist

With his unconvincing fake beard, this man may appear unthreatening.

But the FBI describes the bank robber as "armed and dangerous." Agents dubbed him the "Acid Bandit" after he allegedly threatened to spray a teller with corrosive liquid.

The agency alleges that the bandit held up a Wells Fargo in Mesa, Arizona, on Jan. 27.

Security footage shows him waiting in line before the teller calls him up. He handed over a note demanding cash and threatened to douse the staff member with sulfuric acid if they didn’t do as he wanted, the FBI said.

The teller ducked down behind the counter.

The suspect, believed to be 50 to 65 years old and weighing around 275 pounds, walked out of the building and fled in a silver or gold Toyota Camry that had a temporary paper license plate.

The FBI did not disclose whether or not he managed to take any money, but it released surveillance footage of the heist on Thursday.

Anyone with information should call the FBI's Phoenix Field Office at (623) 466-1999.
