Caught On Tape: Vandals Set Saltwater Crocodiles Loose Inside School

Police are now seeking the unidentified foursome.

The crocodiles, meanwhile, are receiving treatment — but may need to be put down because of their malnourished condition.

Basically skin and bones, not much meat left on them; they were really quiet and easy to catch,” ranger Luke McLaren told Australia’s ABC News.

“We’ll determine what farm they’re from and try to take them back to that farm, but looking at their condition it’s likely they’ll have to be destroyed,” he said, adding that they’d probably not seen water “for a very long time.”

Saltwater crocodiles are a protected species in the Northern Territory, and it’s illegal to take or interfere with them. People who flout the law face up to $58,000 in fines or five years behind bars.
